Detail & Features
When I first stumbled upon these pastel beauties, I knew they were something special. The color is so unusual, so perfectly vintage; it has a great jelly-like feel to it that you don't see anymore. These beads are old French beads, traded into Africa. They are a lovely rondelle shape that is perfect for making jewelry. They are obviously handmade, as the shape does vary slightly from bead to bead, as you can see in the photos. They have been tumbled and cleaned, so they don't show the dirt that many old beads show.
This listing is for 1 strand in a beautiful jelly-like pastel yellow color.
Beads measure approximately 4mm, with about a 1.5mm, hole.
The strand is strung in a loop, they way they are traditionally strung, approximately 25" long (approx.23" of beads with 5" of cotton cord at the top).
Approximately 140 beads per strand.
These beads are old; they date back as early as the early 1900's and originated from Europe. They do show some dirt and minor chips on some of the edges, but this is part of their beauty, and attests to their age. African beads have such mystery attached to them; they have been worn for decades, travelled continents, and will be around for hundreds of years into the future. Be a part of the mystery and let these beads grace you with their presence.
