Traditionally, Heishi beads are small beads made of shells or stones. Heishi beads were used for trading between Native American Nations. Researchers have found evidence of these beads and the materials used to make them throughout southwest North America.
In modern times, Heishi beads can also refer to small beads designed to be strung together into necklaces. These stacked colored discs create a very satisfying look and are fun to use in bracelets and necklaces.
