I'm so excited to finally bring you some Guru Beads, and the best part is the color! These beads are made to match the new colored bone beads we're making in Nepal! Guru beads are used as a closure on traditional Malas and yoga-style jewelry.
The round bead has 3 holes in it so that you can close off your bracelet or necklace on both sides, then pull the thread through the third hole, and then through the column bead, and then knot your thread. See the last photo for an example of how a Guru bead works.
Super natural and beautiful, these are made in from yak bone that has been stained a brilliant yellow color.
The round beads measure approximately 8mm, and the column beads measures approximately 8mm wide x 11mm tall.
The holes of these beads measure approximately 2mm.

Curious to know about the source of the bone?
In India and Nepal, not much is wasted. So instead of just eating the meat of an animal, every part of the animal is used: bones for things like beads, hides/hair for clothing and accessories and talismans, and the meat is consumed.
The making of these beads and pendants provides a livelihood for families in remote villages in Nepal and India, which we are honored to support and share with you.
A portion of all WSW sales will be donated to The Compassion Collective, which works to feed, clothe, shelter, and save our refugee and homeless sisters, brothers, and children in the US and worldwide.
