Vintage Handmade Cow Blanket from India (VBL2)Woman Shops World
Coming from the land of color and adornment, this festive textile is a true vintage camel blanket, from Rajasthan, India. The handstitching and workmanship on this piece is absolutely incredible. The love that went into this is so clear from one glance at this piece. In case you don't have a cow that needs adorning, this would make an incredible decorative element, or could be up-cycled into something fabulous!
Made of soft patchworked cotton fabric, it measures 52" wide by 64" tall. It has a domed "hood" sewn into the middle seam on one side, that would go over the cow's head. As you can see from the pictures, it can easily be hung so that hood does not take away from the overall effect, or you could certainly remove it.
This piece is in beautiful vintage condition. I had it washed after I found it, so it doesn't smell like a cow ;-) There are a few small stains (they look like rust stains from the metal mirror frame), but they do not detract from the overall beauty of the piece.
The creative possibilities for this piece are truly endless. Pillows, blankets, wall hanging, curtains, patchwork elements.... get inspired and create!

As with all of my goods, I travel to the source and hand-select all of the items that I sell. My husband is from India, and when he took me to India for the first time and I told him I wanted to sell camel swag; he told me I was crazy. I insisted, and we scoured the streets of Rajasthan to find the man who sells the camel swag. I finally found him, and my life will never be lacking in pom poms or color again!
