Detail & Features

Soft seafoam on the outside. Secret neon glow on the inside. 💚✨

These Rare Antique Seafoam Green Uranium Glass Trade Beads might just be our favorite color in this collection. Their dreamy pale aqua-green shade is much softer than the vivid greens typically associated with uranium glass, and that's exactly what makes them so special.

In ordinary light, the glass ranges from misty seafoam and pale mint to soft aqua, with a beautifully frosted, timeworn surface. Turn on a UV black light, though, and they reveal their secret: that unmistakable brilliant green fluorescence characteristic of uranium glass.

These old glass beads were originally made in Europe and traded into Africa, where European glass beads became an important part of the historic bead trade. This collection was sourced in Ethiopia and has been tucked away in our WSW bead stash for years.

Each bead is wonderfully individual. You'll find softly faceted bicones, rounder shapes, subtle differences in size and color, tiny pits, scratches, patina, and other signs of age and wear. We wouldn't want them any other way—the irregularity is part of what makes old trade beads so beautiful.

Seafoam uranium glass is especially hard to come across, making these an incredible little find for collectors and jewelry makers alike. We're offering them in carefully selected sets of five so you can add a bit of antique glass history to a necklace, bracelet, pair of earrings, or your own treasured bead stash.

Beautiful in daylight. Completely unexpected under black light. ✨
