These carved red heishi bone spacer beads are such a bold color story. These would be perfect with just about any design! They are a perfect size for using as spacer beads in bracelets and necklaces. Made in India from cow bone (for more information on the source of the bone, read below), each one is completely hand-made.
The coloring on these is not completely saturated, so there are some light red, almost pink areas on them. This makes the red design really POP, and gives them great visual texture.
These have a nice slightly-larger hole on them (approximately 1.5-2mm), so they would work on smaller cord or twine, and are perfect for using on 1mm elastic for stretch bracelets.

Curious to know about the source of the bone?
In India and Nepal, not much is wasted. So instead of just eating the meat of an animal, every part of the animal is used: bones for things like beads, hides/hair for clothing and accessories and talismans, and the meat is consumed.
The making of these beads and pendants provides a livelihood for families in remote villages in Nepal and India, which we are honored to support and share with you.
