Pink Heelsplitter Shell from Mississippi River, Pearlescent SeashellWoman Shops World
These lovelies are called Pink Heelsplitters, and they come from the Mississippi River. They have a beautiful pink nacre that is reminiscent of Abalone Shell. These shells are often cut and carved to make pendants. They make perfect containers for beading projects, and trinkets, and they are lovely used in Smudge Kits.
Shells vary somewhat in size, but they measure approximately 5" x 3 1/4" x 1" deep.
Some of them are beginning to loose some of the exterior layer, as you can see in the last picture.
These shells have been in our possession for 25+ years.
