These awesome beads are made from Ostrich Bone in Kenya. They are such a beautiful natural color, and make such a bold impression. I love the natural feel, the variety in the thickness of the beads, and the graduation. Such a beautiful strands of beads!

This listing is for one 30 +/-" strand, which is strung in a loop on cotton twine, the way African beads are traditionally strung.

The beads are graduated, starting at 14x5mm at the back, and going up to 25x7mm in the middle.

There are approximately 96 beads per strand.

Curious to know about the source of the bone?

In India and Nepal, not much is wasted. So instead of just eating the meat of an animal, every part of the animal is used: bones for things like beads, hides/hair for clothing and accessories and talismans, and the meat is consumed.

The making of these beads and pendants provides a livelihood for families in remote villages in Nepal and India, which we are honored to support and share with you.

A portion of all WSW sales will be donated to The Compassion Collective, which works to feed, clothe, shelter, and save our refugee and homeless sisters, brothers, and children in the US and worldwide.
