Detail & Features
Part pendant, part tiny portable shrine, and one seriously special find from the WSW stash. ✨
These beautiful Nepali Ghau Prayer Box Pendants have been tucked away in our warehouse for roughly a decade. Traditionally used in Tibetan Buddhist culture, a Ghau (also spelled Gau) is a small portable shrine or amulet box designed to hold sacred images, prayers, mantras or other meaningful objects.
At the center of each pendant is a richly colored Buddha image on canvas, surrounded by an ornate raised metal frame filled with lotus motifs, scrolling details and Tibetan-inspired script.
But the really special part is on the back: the pendant actually opens.
Remove the back panel to reveal a small compartment inside—a beautiful little hidden space that can be used to hold a tiny prayer, mantra, keepsake or other meaningful object.
These were sourced from Nepal approximately a decade ago and are made in the traditional mixed-metal style our Nepali suppliers commonly use, including nickel silver and brass. Choose between the warm gold-tone or antiqued silver-tone finish.
At approximately 2" tall, they're substantial enough to become the centerpiece of a necklace, altar piece or other special creation.
A little art. A little history. A little hidden space for something meaningful. ❤️
