These tusk pendants are a more petite size, and perfectly bohemian in style. Hand-carved, these tribal beauties are made in Kathmandu, Nepal. They are made from natural yak bone that has been cut and inlaid over a tusk form, and then carved to reveal a beautiful boho pattern. They have an ornate Brass cap and bail at the top.
The workmanship on these is superb, and they would make gorgeous additions to your jewelry creations! These pendants are beautifully large and bold, and capture that wild and free bohemian spirit.
Listing is for 1 pendant. As each pendant is handmade from natural bone, size will vary slightly.
Pendants measures from approximately 3.5" long x approximately 3/4" or 20mm wide. The pendant bail is about 5mm wide, large enough for a leather or other type of cord.
Curious to know about the source of the bone?
In India and Nepal, not much is wasted. So instead of just eating the meat of an animal, every part of the animal is used: bones for things like beads, hides/hair for clothing and accessories and talismans, and the meat is consumed.
The making of these beads and pendants provides a livelihood for families in remote villages in Nepal and India, which we are honored to support and share with you.
