These are really enchanting and delicate beads hailing from the Dogon Tribe in Mali. Called "Dutch Donuts" because of their donut-like shape, and because they formed in a style of Dutch beads that were traded into Africa. They are made of glass that was wrapped around a mandrel and formed into this round shape.

A warm, golden shade of translucent glass with a matte finish. Hold them up to the light and they glow like honey. So pretty with gold, olive and earthy fall tones.
These beads are wound glass, so on some beads you can feel where the thread of glass started or ended. Some of them do have slight pits or markings on their surface, but nothing that detracts from the beauty of the beads. The hole takes up most of the bead, so they are great for using on cords, or as slider beads.
