Detail & Features
The sway and movement in these striking tribal leather pendants is enchanting. When I stumbled upon these, I couldn't wait to share them with you because they are so unusual! From the Tuareg tribe, a nomadic people who reside in the Sahara, predominantly in Mali, Niger, and Algeria. Soft Goat leather has been dyed and cut into strips and wrapped into this juju of a bundle, with 2 geometric leather and pvc twine pieces (one will slide up and down the leather straps). This could be worn as a necklace by itself, or you could certainly work it into another creation.
The full "pendant" part measures approximately 12" from top to bottom, and 1 3/4" wide.
The tassel fringe part measures approx. 7", the 2 woven sections are approx. 5", and the leather loop is approx. 9" on each side.
****The designs and color patterns may vary slightly, but they all look more or less like one of ones shown here.*****
Fringe is important for many reasons in the Tuareg culture. The more abundant the fringe on a person, the more status he or she is said to hold.
These make great pendants, and would be perfect for incorporating into your fringe-requiring craft projects!
Listing is for 1 tassel.
