These are really enchanting and delicate beads hailing from the Dogon Tribe in Mali. Called "Dutch Donuts" because of their donut-like shape, and because they formed in a style of Dutch beads that were traded into Africa. They are made of glass that was wrapped around a mandrel and formed into this round shape.
These beads are wound glass, so on some beads you can feel where the thread of glass started or ended. Some of them do have slight pits or markings on their surface, but nothing that detracts from the beauty of the beads. The hole takes up most of the bead, so they are great for using on cords, or as slider beads.
This listing is for 10 loose beads in a lovely shade of green. These beads have a beautiful glossy finish to them. Beads measure approximately 1/2". These beads have large holes that take up most of the diameter of the bead (hence the name "donut". The hole measures approximately 8mm.
