Detail & Features

When I first stumbled upon these pastel beauties, I knew they were something special. The colors are so unusual, so perfectly vintage; they has a great jelly-like feel to them that you don't see anymore. These beads are old French beads, traded into Africa. They are a combination of rondelle and tube shape. They are obviously handmade, as the shape does vary from bead to bead, as you can see in the photos. They have been tumbled and cleaned, so they don't show the dirt that many old beads show.

These perfect pastel little guys measure approximately 3x2mm. They are a cute rounded tube shape, in an assorted pastel color palette. There are lots of light plum & white beads, with some blue and dark plum beads thrown in the mix. These make great spacer beads!

You get approximately 24" of beads. They are temporarily strung on cotton thread, in a completed loop, the way they are traditionally sold in Africa.

The hole is about .5mm, making it perfect for bracelets and other more precise projects.

These beads are old; they date back as early as the early 1900's and originated from Europe. They do show some dirt and minor chips on some of the edges, but this is part of their beauty, and attests to their age. African beads have such mystery attached to them; they have been worn for decades, travelled continents, and will be around for hundreds of years into the future. Be a part of the mystery and let these beads grace you with their presence.
