Beautifully aged and old strand of Djenne beads, in a gorgeous larger size, from Djenne in Mali, Africa. These beads are originally from Italy, and are also known as Roman Glass Beads. They were traded into Africa as currency. They are rich shades of aqua, sea-blue, and white. They have obviously been buried, worn, and travelled far.

This listing is for 1 strand (one of the strands pictured). The beads are graduated on the strand, and measure approximately 6x3mm at the end, up to about 12x5mm at the middle of the strand, with about a 1mm, hole. These are longer strands, strand is strung in a loop, approximately 29" long (Approx. 24" of beads, and 5" of wound cotton cord at the back of the neck). Approximately 160+ beads per strand.

These beads are old. They do show some dirt and minor chips on some of the edges, but this is part of their beauty, and attests to their age. African beads have such mystery attached to them; they have been worn for decades, travelled continents, and will be around for hundreds of years into the future. Be a part of the mystery and let these beads grace you with their presence.
