The people of Papua, New Guinea are known for their incredible shell jewelry and adornments. Many of their creations are worthy of display, including this large shell necklace.
Crafted from a base of light brown braided rope, that has been decorated with a band of graduated long curled orange and cream patterned Shells, and a band of lustrous large brown Cowrie Shells. The entire necklace measures approximately 11.5" tall.
The largest Orange Shells are 3 inches in drop length, and the smallest are 2.25 inches in drop length. The inner diameter of the necklace is 4.1", and the outer diameter is 11". The necklace is finished with a light brown braided Rope loop, and a circular Shell toggle.
This piece comes with an accompanying metal stand that measures approximately 15.5" tall.
